Lithium-Ion Batteries — Fuel of the Future

What makes lithium-ion batteries special? They are the future of golf cart power. The technology has been around for many years, but within the last decade it’s advanced significantly, making it more efficient and economically viable.

Lithium-ion batteries are the next step in the evolution of powering golf carts. Similar to cars, carts were traditionally powered by gas, and many still are. From gas came lead-acid battery power. Carts using lead-acid typically require less maintenance and are quieter than gas carts. As battery technology has advanced, the industry is moving towards lithium-ion batteries. This technology is easier to maintain and a powerful, reliable option for your golf cart.

At GT Carts, our premier partner is E‑Z-GO who exclusively uses Samsung SDI Lithium-Ion batteries to power their golf carts. The Samsung SDI product is thinner, lighter weight, and can hold a longer charge than lead-acid batteries and other lithium-ion competitors. Samsung’s SDI batteries also charge faster and, like all lithium-ion powered carts, are a little easier on the environment.

As battery technology continues to progress, it’s likely that lithium powered carts will become more of the norm. That doesn’t mean that gas and lead-acid golf carts will become obsolete just yet. Each option has pros and cons including price, maintenance, and over all power. Whichever option you’re looking for, GT Carts has it in stock. And now with our new larger Monticello location, you’ll be sure to find the perfect golf cart to suit your lifestyle.
